These are the 5 richest Argentines on the planet
Forbes published the list of the richest people of 2021 and five Argentines managed to enter among the most millionaires in the world: who they are.
After a year like no other, in terms of the pandemic and new industries that have swept the world, such as the cryptocurrency market, the magazine Forbes has published its list of “The most millionaires of 2021” .
This year, the number of people who made the list grew: in the 35th edition of the list there are 2,755 people, 660 more people than last year. Within the total, 493 people are new to the list, of which 210 people are from China and Hong Kong. In general terms, 86% of the people on the list increased their fortune .
On the list, Jeff Bezos, the founder and former CEO of Amazon.com, remains at the top of the list as the richest man in the world, followed by Elon Musk, founder and director of Tesla and SpaceX.
However, according to “The World’s Real-time Billionaires” from Forbes (Millionaires of the world in real-time), Musk today climbed to the top position with a net worth of USD 199.9 billion compared to $USD 187.4 billion for Bezos.
Total, all the people that make up the list have a fortune of US $ 13.1 billion, USD 5.2 billion more than last year. The United States remains the country with the most millionaires in the world, 724 in total, followed by China – including Hong Kong and Macao – with 698 people.
Nevertheless, there were five Argentine businessmen who were not far behind and managed to be part of the “Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2021” and they are still within the ranking of “The World’s Real-time Billionaires” from Forbes (Millionaires of the world in real-time).
1. MARCOS GALPERIN – FREE MARKET
List position: 444
Mark Galperin is President, CEO and Founder of MercadoLibre, Inc. He founded MercadoLibre Inc. in August 1999. Before founding it, he carried out a summer internship in the fixed income department of JP Morgan Securities Inc., in New York between June and August 1998 and previously worked at YPF SA, an oil company, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he directed the Capital Markets and Futures and Options area between 1994 and 1997.
The Mercado Libre site is among the 50 most visited in the world and is the leading retail platform in each country in which it operates, according to the statistics provided by Comscore Networks: it is the leading portal in 13 Latin American countries and Portugal.
The company went public in 2007 when it was listed on the NASDAQ , one of the 30 Hottest Brands in the world by the magazine Ad Age and one of the 27 brands of the future according to the Credite Suisse Research Institute.
2. ALEJANDRO BULGHERONI – PAN AMERICAN ENERGY
List position: 985
Alexander Bulgheroni is the president of Pan American Energy (PAE) and one of the most important businessmen in Argentina. He was considered by the Bloomberg forum as one of the most influential people in Latin America and awarded by the King of Spain with the “Enrique V. Iglesias Award for Ibero-American Business Development” in 2018.
For its part, PAE is a leading energy company in Argentina and the region. They explore and produce oil and gas, refine and commercialize fuels, lubricants and chemicals, among other activities.
3. GREGORIO PÉREZ COMPANC & FAMILIA – GRUPO PÉREZ COMPANC
List position: 1323
Gregorio Pérez Companc is one of the most important businessmen in Argentina, founder and current president of the Pérez Companc Group . Also, the Pérez Companc Foundation carries out an important philanthropic activity, focused on education and health: for example, it donated between USD 50 and USD 80 million for the Pilar University Campus of the Austral University, which includes a complex university medical clinic.
For its part, Perez Companc Family Group is an Argentine family holding that is divided into three main areas: food, agriculture and energy. It has a strong presence in the food sector, where Nobleza Gaucha, Molfino, Pindapoy, Nieto Senetiner, Don Vicente y Matarazzo, Cocinero, Lira y Patito, Good Mark, Vieníssima, Tres Cruces and Máximo control.
4. ALBERTO ROEMMERS – ROEMMERS LABORATORIES

Alberto Roemmers is a recognized Argentine businessman: he is the majority owner of Roemmers Laboratories , the largest pharmaceutical company in Argentina. The firm was founded in 1921 by his father, Alberto J. Roemmers, a German immigrant in Argentina.
Today, Roemmers Laboratories , which is privately owned, also has operations in Brazil, Uruguay and Mexico: it produces a variety of drugs, including antibiotics and anti-inflammatory treatments.
5. EDUARDO EURNEKIAN

Eduardo Eurnekian He is one of the most influential businessmen in Argentina: the son of Armenian immigrants, he operated for the first time in the textile industry. Then he got into the cable TV business in the 1980s. In the 1990s, it obtained USD 750 million from the sale of Argentine television company Cablevisión.
