These are the 5 richest Argentines on the planet

Forbes published the list of the richest people of 2021 and five Argentines managed to enter among the most millionaires in the world: who they are.

After a year like no other, in terms of the pandemic and new industries that have swept the world, such as the cryptocurrency market, the magazine Forbes has published its list of “The most millionaires of 2021” .

This year, the number of people who made the list grew: in the 35th edition of the list there are 2,755 people, 660 more people than last year. Within the total, 493 people are new to the list, of which 210 people are from China and Hong Kong. In general terms, 86% of the people on the list increased their fortune .

On the list, Jeff Bezos, the founder and former CEO of Amazon.com, remains at the top of the list as the richest man in the world, followed by Elon Musk, founder and director of Tesla and SpaceX.

However, according to “The World’s Real-time Billionaires” from Forbes (Millionaires of the world in real-time), Musk today climbed to the top position with a net worth of USD 199.9 billion compared to $USD 187.4 billion for Bezos.

Total, all the people that make up the list have a fortune of US $ 13.1 billion, USD 5.2 billion more than last year. The United States remains the country with the most millionaires in the world, 724 in total, followed by China – including Hong Kong and Macao – with 698 people.

Nevertheless, there were five Argentine businessmen who were not far behind and managed to be part of the “Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2021” and they are still within the ranking of “The World’s Real-time Billionaires” from Forbes (Millionaires of the world in real-time).

1. MARCOS GALPERIN – FREE MARKET

Net worth, according to Forbes: USD 6.4 billion

List position: 444

Mark Galperin is President, CEO and Founder of MercadoLibre, Inc. He founded MercadoLibre Inc. in August 1999. Before founding it, he carried out a summer internship in the fixed income department of JP Morgan Securities Inc., in New York between June and August 1998 and previously worked at YPF SA, an oil company, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he directed the Capital Markets and Futures and Options area between 1994 and 1997.

2. ALEJANDRO BULGHERONI – PAN AMERICAN ENERGY
