The sale of the Olam fields in Uruguay is in an advanced process, a source close to the business told Blasina y Asociados. The transaction would be around USD 20 million.
These are five local buyers, linked to agriculture, a refrigerator, dairy production and livestock production.
A source from Olam Uruguay told Blasina y Asociados that at the moment the company has nothing to report and that they continue to operate normally.
The withdrawal of the company from the country will mean a significant drop in the reception of milk. In the last financial year 2020/2021, Olam sent some 100 million litres to Conaprole, with 20 operating dairy farms. “The company has decided to leave,” a Conaprole source told Blasina y Asociados. The details have not yet been released, unofficially in February, it would stop operating.
In mid-2020, Olam discontinued the operation of the dairy farms involved in the East and West of Uruguay, with the return of leases in Rocha and Young. And he concentrated his activity in the department of Florida.
