“Boutique hotels” added to Brazil’s accommodation rating scheme

Post available in: English

Travellers looking for hotels in Brazil can now search for properties with a ’boutique’ rating following the addition of the classification to the country’s accommodation rating system.

‘Boutique’ is the seventh category to be added to the scheme, joining other groups such as resorts and apartments.

Thirty-five hotels across Brazil have already signed up to be given the new classification, which is typically associated with properties accommodating up to 60 guests and providing luxury amenities and services.

According to research from the International Luxury Travel Market, Florianopolis, Fernando de Noronha and Trancoso are the destinations most likely to see growth in the boutique sector in the near future.

Flavio Dino, president of the Brazilian Tourist Board, said: ‘We are seeing a growing appetite from international visitors for boutique hotels in Brazil and several cities are competing to be the new luxury boutique hotspot.’

International travellers can reach the South American nation by catching flights to Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and other major cities.
