Auckland New Zealand is the Hub for Latin American growth from Asia
A diverse group of LANZBC members and other companies, institutions and individuals were treated to a lively and enlightening seminar from Auckland Airport’s General Counsel and GM Corporate Affairs Charles Spillane on September 22nd.
Charles’ presentation began with an explanation of his company’s goals to be faster stronger and better in all it does. He then presented the unique opportunity the airport has to be ‘southern hub between the growth markets of Australasia, Asia and the South America’. With advances in airplane technology, routes which were or still are uneconomic can become feasible, and Auckland is perfectly placed to connect continents.
Charles then concluded his address by showing his company video ‘Our airport of the future’ (which can be downloaded here. Attendees then discussed the range of options for the increased flights to the region we all seek, and which destinations may be attractive to different airlines. The Council thanks Charles for sparking that discussion, and we wish the airport every success in its hub plans!
Air New Zealand says there is huge opportunity to pick up on the demand for travel in the Asia-Pacific region and it now has got an eye on Latin America in the medium term due to the lack of alternative services. Listen to Chief Executive Christopher Luxon on Radio NZ. Listen Here
