A positive change to the law effecting Lobby Groups has taken place in Chile

law effecting Lobby Groups Finally after ten years of lobbying, the lobbyists themselves in Chile are going to be regulated. Lobby of people in power goes on in all the world with excesses in large and small countries. The USA ( farm, military and oil interests ) New Zealand ( farm and indigenous interests ) with the end results are all well-known.

However Chile is joining an elite club of a few countries that will regulate this at times corrupt and distasteful industry. They have decided to regulated  4,700 different public authorities who must now have a transparent agenda.

This will have an immediate effect with the newly elected Presidente, Mrs. Bachelet effected in a report from the Electoral Service stating that Bachelet`s campaign spent more money in the presidential race than all the other 8 candidates all together. When asked during the campaign who funded her campaign she said she does not know (because the campaign donation system is anonymous but all candidates know who puts money in their campaigns)

Let us hope that this push to make politics more transparent continues throughout the world.
