A locals opinion of the current presidential hopeful Javier Milei

John Maclean (an Argentine ), wrote this insightful opinion to colleagues and friends and allowed us to share it.

“Last night I watched and listened to an interview done with Javier Milei on a TV program called A24 in which he, in my point of view, sounded quite reasonable and logical despite some of the legacy media saying otherwise.

Since I am reading the biography of Elon Musk, written by Walter Isaacson, I couldn’t avoid associating Milei with Musk in several aspects.
Musk is definitely a genius of our time, an incredibly hard-working man who doesn’t care a bit about what people think about him, a man who gambles without considering the possibility of losing, a man who is convinced (as many others) that humanity is in the brink of destroying itself and, given that fact, believes in a multi-planetary habitat for those who are “lucky” enough to start a new civilization in Mars or in other planets, a man with no manners, no respect towards people he considers “stupid”, with no patience towards others who he believes are not talented enough to follow him, etc., etc.

His private life is a mess. He’s been married several times and has six or seven kids.  He’s a workaholic who sometimes, in the middle of the night, falls asleep under a desk in his office.

However, he is a genius who goes against all odds to achieve his goals, such as combating global warming or trying to save humans from extinction, objectives one would consider noble principles.

The conclusion is that, despite all I mentioned about Musk, he has proven to be a game changer, and a winner and, measured in financial terms, has made him the wealthiest man on the planet.

Having said all that, and going back to my association of Musk with Milei, who is also very talented, although “unpolished” and sometimes rough and violent, I conclude that, considering the catastrophic economic, educational and moral situation in Argentina, we maybe should consider him an Argentine version of Elon Musk, a revolutionary and a possible game changer for the country’s future.

I know it is a risk, but investments are always risky. One thing we know at this point in history is that Peronism is dead and is now smelling bad.

Maybe it is time to risk it and vote for him in the hope his theory is as correct as Musk proved with his electric car, Tesla, and his reusable rocket, Space X, which worked and resulted in game-changing technology.
